Compare carrier performance

The Carrier Performance board compares delivery reliability, transit speed, lane volume, and tracking-feed quality by carrier.

Open Carrier Performance

Read the headline metrics

MetricWhat it tells you
On-time reliabilityHow consistently shipments arrive within the carrier promise.
Avg transit p50 (h)Median transit time in hours across the selected data.
ShipmentsThe volume behind the comparison.
Feed lag p50 (min)Median delay between a carrier event occurring and reaching Intelligence.

Always read reliability beside shipment volume. A small carrier can look excellent or poor on very little evidence.

Find weak lanes

The Top lanes table breaks performance down by origin-to-destination lane. It includes median and p90 transit, shipment count, and week-over-week transit drift where enough history exists.

Use it to answer:

  • Is a carrier problem network-wide or isolated to a lane?
  • Did median transit move, or only the slowest tail?
  • Is the change large enough to affect routing or carrier allocation?

Drill into a lane before changing a routing rule. Check volume, the comparison window, and whether a weather or facility event explains the movement.

Check feed quality

Carrier feed health shows whether the tracking data itself is timely and usable. Feed lag is separate from physical transit: a shipment can move on time while its carrier reports scans late.

High feed lag can make risk appear later than it should. Compare it with Pipeline Health to determine whether the delay is carrier-specific or affects ingestion more broadly.

Use the board in a carrier review

  1. Set a consistent date window.
  2. Compare on-time reliability and median transit.
  3. Check shipment volume for confidence.
  4. Review the weakest high-volume lanes.
  5. Check feed lag before attributing late visibility to operations.
  6. Record the lanes or services that need a routing, contract, or escalation decision.

If the board is empty

Confirm the organization has delivered shipments and tracking events. If the board could not load, click Retry, confirm the selected organization, and check Orderly status.
